OpenHunt is mapping software for hunters. The free tier is genuinely free. Pro is $49/year and adds server-side features: sync, sharing, and alerts. Cancel whenever you like — your data stays yours, exports always work, and nothing you created gets paywalled after the fact. Don't use the service to break the law, and don't treat any map as a guarantee.
OpenHunt provides mapping, land-ownership, and hunt-planning information assembled from public government sources, plus tools for saving your own waypoints, routes, and recorded tracks. The hosted service at openhuntmaps.com is operated by Erudition Labs, LLC, a California limited liability company (“we”). The software is open source (AGPL-3.0); these terms cover the hosted service, not your right to run the code yourself.
You must be at least 13 to use the service, and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to purchase Pro. You need an account for Pro features. You're responsible for your credentials; we store passwords only as salted hashes and session tokens only as digests. Pro is billed yearly through Paddle, our merchant of record — Paddle handles payment data; we never see card numbers. Cancelling stops renewal; Pro features run to the end of the paid period, then your account returns to the free tier with all data intact and exportable. Charges are refundable per the refund policy — 14 days, no questions.
Boundaries, ownership, access programs, roads, and every other layer are derived from public records that contain errors, lag reality, and get revised. Landlocked and public-land determinations are computed estimates. Nothing in OpenHunt is legal advice or a defense to trespass. You are responsible for confirming land status, regulations, seasons, and boundaries with the controlling agency and landowner before you act. Where we show data vintage and sources, that transparency is part of the product — use it.
Watch notices report changes observed in public sources or calculated planning conditions. They are not guarantees of license availability, successful application, legal access, closure status, safe weather, or animal activity. Inventory can change after observation and agency systems remain authoritative. You must open the linked official source and confirm before acting.
Waypoints, routes, tracks, and notes are yours. We host and replicate them to run the service (that's the license you grant us — nothing more), and we delete them when you delete your account. Share links you create are readable by anyone holding the link until you revoke them.
No unlawful use, no attempting to break other users' data out of the service, no scraping the hosted service at abusive volume (the data sources themselves are public — go get them at the source, or run the pipeline yourself), and no reselling access to the hosted service.
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Hunting is inherently risky; navigation and land-status decisions are yours alone.
We can update these terms with notice on this page; material changes to paid features get email notice. You can leave at any time and take your data with you (GPX/GeoJSON export is a free-tier feature, permanently). We can suspend accounts that violate these terms.
