Registered harvest by GAME MANAGEMENT SUBUNIT, twenty seasons (2005-2024), across SEVEN species — moose, caribou, Dall sheep, mountain goat, bison, muskox and elk. That is the widest species set of any state here, and the only place caribou, muskox and Dall sheep appear at all. ⚠️ RESIDENCY SPLITS BOTH THE NUMERATOR AND THE DENOMINATOR. ADF&G reports successful AND unsuccessful hunters separately for residents and nonresidents, so Alaska carries a true per-residency success rate rather than a harvest split against a shared hunter count. Most states publish neither half. ⚠️ ALASKA'S SHEEP ARE DALL SHEEP (Ovis dalli), not the bighorn every other state in this set hunts. ADF&G's own form says only "Sheep"; the species is named accurately here so a cross-state view cannot merge two different animals. ⚠️ A BARE UNIT NUMBER IS THE "SUBUNIT NOT REPORTED" BUCKET. Alongside 13A-13E the report carries a row for plain "13", and it is NOT their subtotal — in 2024 it holds 33 hunters and one moose against the subunits' 3,793 and 697. It is where hunters who named the unit but not the subunit land. Those rows are kept because they are real published harvest, but they match no polygon and appear on no unit page. ⚠️ THE REPORT'S UNIT IDS ARE ZERO-PADDED ("01A", "02Z") while ADF&G's own map layer uses "1A" and "2". The trailing Z is an internal marker meaning "no subunits" and appears in no publication. Normalised at ingest; left alone, every row would fail to find its polygon silently. Fetched through the department's own form: an ASP.NET antiforgery token that ROTATES on every response, behind an F5 firewall that rejects invented URLs. See scripts/ak-harvest-to-csv.py.
